Virtual Victrola Show #1: Christmas 2007 edition

Well, here is my first Virtual Victrola Show, an hour-long program of Christmas music from the 1930's and 1940's, both jazzy and sentimental, with a little humor thrown in as well.

The playlist:

Benny Goodman - Jingle Bells
Paul Whiteman-v/ Johnny Mercer and Jack Teagarden - Christmas Night In Harlem
Jack Grose - On A Christmas Tree
Richard Himber-v/ Joey Nash - Winter Wonderland
Tommy Dorsey-v/ Cliff Weston and Edythe Wright - Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town
Hoosier Hot Shots - Jingle Bells
Russ Morgan-v/ Russ Morgan - I Want You For Christmas
Hal Kemp-v/ Skinnay Ennis - I'm Going Shopping With You
Sammy Kaye-v/ The Three Kayedetts - Santa Claus Is On His Way
Alvino Rey - Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town

Freddy Martin - On The Santa Claus Express
Jesse Rogers - Here Comes Santa Claus
Gene Autry - When Santa Claus Gets Your Letter
Barry Gordon/Hal Mooney Orch. - Nuttin' For Christmas
Spike Jones-v/ 'Little' George Rock - All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth
Freddy Martin-v/ Merv Griffin and the Martin Men - Sleigh Ride
Connee Boswell/Russ Morgan Orch. - Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow
Hoagy Carmichael-v/ Martha Mears - My Christmas Song For You
Vera Lynn/Robert Farnon Orch. - Christmas Time
Harry James-v/ Marion Morgan - White Christmas

The show is downloadable in two half-hour segments -

Download Virtual Victrola Christmas Show Part 1 (mp3 format, 7.4Mb)

Download Virtual Victrola Christmas Show Part 2 (mp3 format, 7.2 Mb)

I hope everyone enjoys the show.  I would like to make an hour-long audio show a regular feature of the Virtual Victrola.  Downloadable audio is a great way to share vintage jazz and pop music.  So if you have any requests or suggestions, I would like to hear them.  Please leave a comment on this post or email me at okgrove -at- yahoo -dot- com.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all my readers.  May God bless all of you during this holiday season.

Wow, Mike, this is a great collection! Thanks for all the work preparing this show. I've linked to you and hope you get a lot of well-deserved praise for making this classic music available to us all. Merry Christmas.

This is really great stuff you put together here. Thanks for taking the time and effort to share it with us. Heck - the whole site is wonderful.

One small suggestion for future shows: I'd love to see you include the years the songs were recorded playlist.
Thanks again!

I really love this site. I have a new blog myself in which I am offering downloads of old Christmas music. I hope you will allow me to put a few of these songs on it.
